Aromatherapy Massage in Bristol

For deep relaxation, to release stress, reset and fully nourish your self.

What is an Aromatherapy Massage?

An aromatherapy massage aims to relax you and help you physically, emotionally and mentally.

I use natural essential oils, extracted from plants, flowers and tree resins and mix them together especially for you.

The essential oil’s therapeutic properties work directly on your nervous system from the start aiding the process of relaxation, then as they get absorbed through the skin they can have a positive impact on your life.

This type of massage is beneficial whether you like deep pressure or not. I will tend to work as deep as it is comfortable and necessary, combining with more gentle strokes. Pressure can also be adjusted, as comfort is a must and some days we may feel more sensitive than others.

After a detailed consultation, the most suitable blend of oils is prepared for use in a 60 or 90-minute massage.

What are the benefits of an aromatherapy massage?

What does Aromatherapy massage help with

A course of treatments may also be of great support with many conditions or inbalances such as:

  • Muscular and joint pain

  • Low immunity

  • Sleeping problems or insomnia

  • Emotional imbalances including PMS

  • Minor skin conditions

  • Mental clarity

  • inflamation

What happens in an aromatherapy massage?

The first time we meet we go through an in-depth consultation, where we look at your medical history and what you want to get from the treatment, this also gives us a chance to connect. This can take anywhere between 5 or 15 minutes as it is added free of charge to the session. If we have already met this will be a shorter check in and a chance to hear of any change of health issues or medications.

I then choose some oils for the session based on what we have spoken, check that you are happy with them, put relaxing music on, and leave you to get comfortable on the table while I blend the essential oils with a carrier oil. In the majority of cases people remove all their clothes apart from underwear and cover up with a towel or sheet. it is also a time to put phones on silent and remove jewellery and glasses.

This is your time, your treatment, so you are welcome at any point to tell me if you are uncomfortable in any way or if you need more or less pressure.

You then receive a massage that typically covers full back, neck , chest and shoulders, however it will be tailored to what you are needing that day. So weather you are holding a lot of tension on your arms and hands, or have been preoccupied and are storing tension on your head and scalp, or have very tired legs, or are feeling extra emotional and are needing more of a supportive touch , the treatment will be based on what you are needing that day. You will likely be asked to change positions once or twice.

Once the treatment is finished I will let you know and will leave your for a moment to get dressed. We can then go through anything relevant, recommendations if any, payment, as well as explore if you would like to book another treatment.

For further benefit from the oils, I can provide or recommend oils or tailor-made products for home use, especially for treating specific conditions.

How long does an Aromatherapy massage last?

I recommend having a full 90 min session for your maximum benefit, this way you can receive a deep full body aromatherapy massage.

Frequetly asked questions

  • The difference is in the use of essential oils for a therapeutic reason that aims to support you. It is essentially a “normal” therapeutic massage but with a blend of essential oils, These are typically chosen for you  according to your needs. examples  might be to help you breathe better, promote circulation,  aid muscle relaxation, balance emotions, help ground or boost immunity.

  • If you are needing support during a specific time, or are trying to shift a lot of tension, I suggest a treatment every 2 to 3 weeks to see some improvements. Otherwise it would depend on your needs, stress levels, physical exertion... A therapeutic massage is not a pamper. it is a support to your mental and physical health. Everyone could do with a massage  once a month, it would make the world a better place. But realistically investing once a season can provide support throughout the year.

  • You will be asked to take your clothes off (including bra) and keep your underwear on. If  you don't feel comfortable taking your bra off I can work around it. Full body Is  back, legs, arms, chest, neck and face and stomach, glutes are typically massaged over the covering.  Your privacy will be respected at all times and we both need to feel comfortable in the space before starting to be able to promote relaxation.

  • No, this will wash off the essential oils and reduce their benefits. After the passage the skin is still absorbing the oils for extra health benefits. However if you do need to shower or plan to go swimming so it will not harm you.

  • Sometimes we have held tension for so long that the release can take some time to settle and for us to readjust to. Also lymph flow is stimulated during massage and this can  start a detoxing process that  can make us feel dizzy. It is not something that happens every time but if so make sure you rise slowly and drink some fluid and  take your time to resume with the day.

  • Crying is another form of release. It is normal to shed a few tears if you have been going through a strong emotional time or have been holding a lot.

“I’m totally blissed out and relaxed after another wonderful massage by Cecilia. She created beautifully balanced aromatherapy oils and blended them with her nurturing touch and soft hands to give me the best massage I’ve had in ages. Her pressure and strokes were all spot on and I loved the sense of connected-ness that she maintains throughout the treatment”. Sarah, Bristol

“After moving house with my partner, we both ended considerably injured on mostly our back and neck muscles. Ceci's miracle hands came at the right time for us to feel fully recovered to return to work in good shape. Her massages were really pleasant and dedicated. During the whole session, she constantly checked with us that we were always feeling comfortable with things like the pressure put on our muscles, temperature of the room, background music, etc ensuring we were always enjoying this pamper time for ourselves. I truly recommend her treatment.”. Fabiola, Bristol
